For millions of girls and women in the United States, managing their periods is not just a matter of health; it directly impacts their ability to stay in school, work and lead confident lives. 

According to a report by PERIOD, 1 in 4 U.S. teens are unable to do schoolwork due to a lack of access to period products. This creates a ripple effect, leading to lost learning opportunities, lower self-esteem, and long-term barriers to success.

At Promise Hill Project, we believe every female deserves dignity, health, and the opportunity to thrive in school and remain at work without interruption. That’s why our Annual Period Product Drive, now in its 7th year, plays a vital role in addressing the issue. Through your support, we aim to collect 5,000 essential products this September and October to serve girls and women across communities in need.

Why Access to Period Products Matters 

Period products are not luxuries; they are necessities. When students lack access to essential hygiene products like pads, panty liners, wipes, or sanitary bags, they often resort to unsafe alternatives, such as using tissue or socks, or even skipping school altogether. This lack of access, known as period poverty, affects physical health, emotional well-being, and educational and employment equity.

In low-income communities, families often face impossible choices between buying food, paying rent, or purchasing period supplies. As a result, women bear the brunt of this hardship. By providing reliable access to period products, we break down barriers that keep women from reaching their full potential.

How the Annual Drive Works 

Every year, Promise Hill Project mobilizes its community of donors, volunteers, and partners to collect and distribute period products. This year, we’ve aligned the campaign with the Back-to-School season (September–October), making it easier to support females when they need it most.

We are collecting:

• Pads & Panty Liners – all sizes, quantities, and brands
• Body Wipes – for hygiene and comfort
• Disposable Bags – to properly dispose used products

Our goal is to collect 5,000 products by October 31, 2025. Each contribution, whether big or small, helps us restore dignity, health, and opportunity to females of all ages in underserved communities.

The Period Product Drive is a cornerstone of Promise Hill Project’s Basic Needs Program, which provides nutrition and period essentials to communities across the U.S. and beyond. By focusing on these fundamental areas, we ensure that individuals don’t just survive; they have the resources to thrive.

When girls receive period products, they receive confidence to stay in school, the chance to participate in sports, and the opportunity to pursue their dreams without shame or barriers. 

When women receive period products, they have the freedom to participate fully in work and life without being disadvantaged by a natural process. 

These outcomes align directly with our mission: to uplift vulnerable populations by addressing their most urgent needs.

Over the past seven years, our drives have helped thousands of girls attend school and women to go to work confidently, knowing they have what they need. Teachers have shared stories of students no longer missing classes, and parents have expressed relief at being able to provide their daughters with essentials they otherwise could not afford.

These stories remind us that period products do more than meet a physical need; they affirm dignity, equality, and hope.
